"Dr. John E. Collins has served as the University’s Director of Housing since August of 1998. John E. Collins reports to the associate vice chancellor for student affairs and director of auxiliaries, Michael DeLorenzo.
Don Block, the current associate director of housing for dining services is retiring after a long and distinguished career in UIUC dining, serving the last five years as director.
University Residence Halls (URH) offer various living options, including living-learning communities with libraries, computer centers, fitness facilities, and leadership opportunities. More than three-quarters of entering freshmen and one-third of transfer students typically choose to live in the University Residence Halls on campus.
University Housing has recently completed two significant new residence/dining facilities—the Student Dining and Residential Programs building (SDRP) and Nugent Hall. The new $76 million SDRP replaces the Peabody and Gregory Dining Halls. The Ikenberry Dining Hall, contained within the SDRP, boasts the largest dining center in the United States and connects with Nugent Hall, providing housing for 150 students.
This entire area, now called Stanley O. Ikenberry Commons enjoys a greener future as well as with both projects expected to achieve LEED Silver status. The second phase of Nugent Hall is expected to be completed in the summer of 2012. "
